“Eric Levine and the coaches at Midwest Goalie School have played such an important role in our son’s development. Attending the MGS camps and clinics during each off-season has helped to fill in the gaps of instruction and technique adjustment that often times get missed for goalies during the regular season. Eric and the staff do an exceptional job of relating to the goalies and coaching them on the mental and off-ice components of goaltending. Having that dedicated time to connect with other goalies and be mentored by inspirational leaders who have been through the journey of being a goalie is something that our son looks forward to each year.”
“Sean has been going to MGS since he was a mite. What has impressed me the most is the staff’s ability to connect with each goalie. They are able to quickly identify the strengths and weaknesses of each goalie. MGS then plans a course of action for each goalie.
I’ve also been thankful that the entire staff have been accessible during the season. When MGS says they are family, they mean it! If my son has had an issue that he wanted correct, or just have a talk with someone that has been where he is, they were there with advice or just listen.
My son had set a “goal” to play AAA hockey. With the help and encouragement of MGS, he is enjoying his first year of AAA hockey!”
“My son has been attending Midwest Goalie School for the past 3 years, participating in the summer camps and small group lessons. Eric and Garrett are the hardest working coaches on the ice I have ever seen. I am always impressed with the specialized one-on-one instruction and the variety of drills. My son leaves the ice asking when he will get the opportunity to work with them again. Eric and Garrett have made quite an impression on my son… thank you for sharing your passion, hard work-ethic and inspiring my son to be the best he can be. Your energy and enthusiasm is contagious with your students!”
“I can’t say enough good things about the Midwest Goalie School and in particular Eric Levine.
I signed my daughter up for the first All Girl Goalie Summer Camp three years ago. I was expecting drills, skating and skill development as one might expect. What I witnessed was magical. The energy, the positive approach and the joy that the staff and Eric share with the girls energized them all. Friendships were forged and fun was had. They focused and worked hard each day, encouraging each other, making the most of “on and off” the ice. Eric and his staff worked with each goalie and at their skill level pushing them to reach the next level.
The last day of camp was so much fun. They competed at each station including the “ESPN” saves that I managed to capture on video, running on a loop to share with Grandma. The encouragement my daughter received this past summer was the difference in her continuing with her sport. Without a doubt, it has been the best money I have spent on this crazy sport.”
“I couldn’t be more happy with the level of training and opportunities that MGS has afforded my son since we were fortunate to find Eric and the school years ago. My son was with another local instructor and was unhappy with the coaching and the training that he was receiving so the hunt began for a new coach. Through friends and other goalie parents around the myriad of rinks that we traveled to I heard about Midwest Goalie School. I did my due diligence and sent an email to Eric that was responded to quickly. I spoke with my son and we decided to give it a go. The transition couldn’t have been better. The enthusiasm that I saw, not only from Eric, Garrett and the other coaches, but from my son was amazing. The dedication and personal attention that each coach gave to my son was in a word; Priceless.
This is a school and mentality that drives the student to excel in areas that they are proficient and work on those that need improvement, all the while the students are having fun and are engaged by the way that Eric and his staff approach teaching the position. There is no yelling, no brow beating whatsoever. These coaches actually care about each and every student and they become part of the family more than just a coach. Eric and his staff bring a level of training through their methodology that is unparalleled to any camps that I have seen. There is a pride and determination that Eric has and it clearly trickles down to the students.
The level of shooters that come out are always high caliber. There have never been a time that my son has complained about anything associated with the school or it’s camps. This is where you want to be if you wish to see great training, on and off the ice, as well as in improvement in your goalies abilities!”
“Our son Jayden, Chicago Mission, has been going to MGS for the last five years with Eric Levine. We are so grateful to Eric and the staff for helping Jayden develop not only as a goaltender but also as an individual. The coaching staff lead by example with their dedication and determination. They teach team work and motivate their students. They listen to these young goaltenders and help them build their character to be able to face the challenges ahead of grow their passion for the game of hockey. We really appreciate the assistance you have extended to our son.”
“We have been working with Eric and the team from Midwest Goalie Clinic (MSG) for over 3 years. Our son has participated in the Summer & Holiday Camps, Spring Clinics, and private lessons. We cannot say enough good things about Eric and the entire staff at MGS. They set good examples, are enthusiastic and positive, and are quality mentors for the kids. Eric conducts himself very professionally on and off the ice. He provides excellent customer service to parents, and demonstrates great leadership to the kids.”
What Goalies Say…
“I first started playing goalie when I turned 10, as a new member to the goalie position I just wanted to get things going for myself. My Dad somehow stumbled upon signing me up for MGS and I am so glad he did. The camp really helped me with my fundamentals especially because I started playing goalie at an older age than most. While I was establishing myself into the camp; I was fortunate enough to win the Sammy/Carl Award as the camps hardest worker my second year, and although, I never won the competition that was held at the end of the week camp, but I think a contributing factor to that was because I had such a big mouth with the shooters. With that being said year in and year out I always left the camp at the end of the week a better goalie. Now, 10 years later I am still a student of the camp, and a part time instructor.
Midwest Goalie School is not only a camp where you go to learn how to play goalie, but it is also a place where you create networks and relationships, networks and relationships that can last you a lifetime. Growing up through the camp I met so many different people. I am a big believer in “everything happens for a reason”, and I believe that every one that I met through the camp has helped me develop into the goalie, and person I am today. While playing youth hockey I went through some pretty tough times dealing with being cut from teams, but the relationships that I developed through Midwest Goalie really helped me persevere through it. I am now playing college hockey at the University of Wisconsin- River Falls NCAA DIII, and there’s no way I could have made it here without Midwest Goalie School.”
“MGS is hands down one the best goalie school I’ve ever come across. Kelly and Eric are two special kinds of goalies that really appreciate and understand the position. They both put in countless hours to their passion for goaltending and this is why MGS is where it is at today. All the instructors are very helpful and are truly there to help you get better not only on the ice but off the ice as well. The first time I attended the camp I really didn’t know too many people but Kelly and Eric really took me under their wings and made me feel comfortable the minute I walked in. I am fortunate to be part of this growing community of passionate goalies and I’m very excited for future camps.”
”I feel so fortunate to have heard about Midwest Goalie School when I was a young goalie. It is a one-of-a-kind camp with top level instructors and shooters. Every session has made me a better goaltender along with a better person and I owe the Midwest Goalie School credit for some of my success over the years. They never looked to change my style, but rather to help improve and work with what I was capable of. I continue to learn new things every year along with continuing to have fun at MGS no matter if I am a goalie or an instructor.”
“MGS has not only drastically improved my fundamental skills, but it has transformed my game. It has simplified my game and made it more efficient, keeping me consistently in the right position and giving me much more time to make saves, therefore making the game easier.”
“I’ve been a student at Midwest Goalie School for quite a while and it is the best goaltending camp I have attended. Chico, Kelly, Eric, and the rest of the staff over the years have helped me become the goaltender I am today. Their knowledge is second to none and has had a huge part in the success I’ve had as a goalie. Not only has MGS helped my goaltending ability, but it has helped me in life. MGS has showed me that building strong relationships can help in the success you have as an individual. Attending this camp, I have created relationships within hockey as well as ones that can help with life decisions. I cannot say enough great things about the staff and this camp.”
“I’ve had the opportunity to work with Eric Levine over the past couple years as a player during Jr, College, and Pro Skates in the summer time. I’ve also worked with Eric during camps and clinics for youth players. The thing that I really notice about Eric is his desire and commitment to not only get better as a player, but as a coach. He has great work ethic and passion for training on the ice as well as off the ice. He also demonstrates those characteristics while teaching the goalie position to kids. His attention to detail and the relationships he has with his students is an important factor for any goalie looking to improve. I look forward to working with Eric in the future as should any goaltender looking to take their game to the next level.”
“I have been with Midwest Goalie School since I was a Peewee, when Chico was running the camp. Since Kelly Gee and Eric Levine have taken over Midwest Goalie School, they’ve helped me bring my game to the next level. They worked around my unique style of play not trying to change it. Just to make me technicality strong. They didn’t just teach me the technical side of goal tending, but also the mental and physical aspect of the position. The staff at Midwest Goalie School are passionate of every student, and wants to bring them to the next level.”
“MGS is a first class program. Eric stays ahead of the curve of modern goaltending by constantly studying the evolution of the game. It’s rare to find a program with such an innovative and hands-on approach to teaching the position. MGS has play a huge role in my technical development and mental approach”
“I first tried ice hockey in 2007 when I was in 3rd grade and I didn’t even know how to skate. My house league coach asked me if I wanted to be the goalie and had me wear the equipment. After that I knew right away that I wanted to be a goalie but I didn’t know what I was doing. I went out for travel hockey in 4th grade and I met Michael Burda, the University of Illinois goalie who was an MGS alumni. He encouraged me to attend goalie camp at MGS because he had gone there as a kid and really loved it. The summer of 2008 I attended my first goalie camp and I have been back ever since. I loved hearing all the Uncle Chico stories and getting to know the instructors. One of the things I love about the MGS Camps is that I have had many of the same instructors year after year and they have become my mentors, especially Eric Levine. They have helped me develop my skills as a goalie and go from a house league goalie to AAA Goalie. MGS instructors inspired me to volunteer at my organization as a student coach and help the younger goalies in our club for the past 2 seasons. Last summer (2013) was the first year that I volunteered at the camp as an assistant and I look forward to working at MGS again this summer and helping out with the younger goalies”
“Eric Levine and Midwest Goalie School’s dedication to my goalie development has been incredible. MGS is one of the best goalie resources in the country. It is an outstanding goalie school both on and off the ice. The “game setting” drills, strengthening off-ice programs and dedicated coaching staff…Midwest Goalie School has it all. The Owner Eric Levine will take an active approach to improving your goalie skills while putting an emphasis on making you a better goalie both mentally and physically. MGS is truly a partner to help you achieve a higher level of success and will push you to exceed your own expectations. If you want to take your goalie game to the next level then Midwest Goalie School is the place for you.”
“Since my first skate with Eric Levine my game has evolved to the next Level. He helped implement new keys in how to become a Top Contender in my league, without changing any major aspects in my style of play. The fundamentals and mechanics of my game have improved with every skate. Eric coaches with a very understandable approach helping make things simply clear and easy to acknowledge all the while getting a good workout. I look forward to every skate and the advancements that will come.”
“I have been attending Midwest Goalie school since I was 6 years old and I have loved every second of my time with the MGS coaches. From Chico to Kelly to Eric, every Coach is exceptional. MGS is where I got my nickname “Swede”, where I won the camp championship 3 times, and where I made friends for life. I am very thankful I was able to discover MGS at such a young age, because if I hadn’t, I don’t know where I would be today. The coaches care about you beyond the rink, which has helped me throughout my life especially when times have been the toughest.
“The coaches have become family to me over the years, and when I decided to come to Colorado it was an extremely hard choice to leave them behind. Even now, I regularly text Eric for advice, and hope I can keep coming back in the summer for the school that has helped to shape the goalie I am today. Midwest Goalie school is one of the premier schools in the country, providing a different look at the game through workouts, video, and game situation drills, but most importantly through their exceptional coaching staff.”
